Motivation (lack of)
Commonly what is required to generate a feeling of motivation is either
1) enough desire or interest that the thing you want to do is so appealing to you, you are motivated to move towards and create what’s required to do it (e.g saving for a trip you would love to take)
Or
2) enough fear or anxiety about what will happen if you don’t do it, that you are motivated into action to prevent a bad outcome (e.g a health scare can motivate dietary change)
Sometimes however you have desire and interest, but you lack the motivation. This is a frustrating situation, since you want to do a certain thing, but cannot get enough inner resolve and motivation to act.
Lack of motivation and enthusiasm can show up everywhere, at home, at work, in relationships, in pursuing goals and in everything else. This often, creates unhappiness and dissatisfaction.
Usually the reason for lack of motivation is an inner emotional conflict between what you would like to do and unresolved fear about the consequences of doing it.
